This is why i’ve been so quite lately.

Maverick

August 16th weighting 2lb 9ozs.

This little one arrived 12 weeks early.

Even on this picture you don’t realise how small he was. He was heavier than Usher and smaller than Kenzie.

He has been home now for three weeks and is 6lb 5 now and is spoilt rotten by his big brother and sister who just adore him.

Christmas Workshop Samples.

Hello and welcome to Sarah’s Christmas workshops,
Opening my dusty box of Christmas stamps, ceremoniously pulled down from its shelf each year, it’s like a veritable treasure chest of memories.  For me this time of year is all about traditions and customs.
I’ve chosen a selection of images that evoke Christmas past, with a modern twist, but I couldn’t leave out those old favourites that I come back to each year.  So I have made two sets of cards one set more traditional with lace and muted colours for the vintage look. The second set combines stencils with heavy texture gel and alcohol inks that give these cards a fantastic metallic look.
I hope you can join me and get a head start on your cards this Christmas.
 Hoping to see you soon
      Sarah. X

Woyww 14th March

I can't believe we are in March, where did February go? My desk has not changed in the last 2 weeks, no activity at all!  Its not that bad I've had house guests my Mum and Dad decided to visit they retired to Scotland we live in Staffordshire. It was nice having them here, we did lots of antique fares and garden centres.

And this is my grandson Usher on his second birthday. Its so nice to see him running around without any tubes, wires or monitors attached to him.

This was taken 2 days after he was born 14 weeks prem, weighting 1lb 12oz he was in hospital for 4 months. We new he was going to be early and every thing was done that could be done to prepare. And we had been there before with his big sister she was born at 30 weeks, so we new what to expect.
So today i thought I would share my felted bowl that I showed you a few weeks ago.
Now let me say I am not a knitter and if I can manage to do this anybody can. The great thing with this method is it hides any mistakes and take my word for it there were quite a few.....
This was my trial piece i really want to make a bag and will have another go after mothers day and few birthdays are out of the way.

The pattern was taken from Knit and Felt Bags by BEV BEATTIE.
I went to my local wool shop for supplies, where i can i want to support shops and not to order on line so it wasn't exactly what was in the book. That is why I decided to do a bowl also the round needles that its knitted on were longer than what it said i needed in the book. I just added more stitches for this project. To make a bag I will have to order the needles on line as I cannot get them anywhere locally.
I really enjoyed making this, I even found myself watching the washing machine to see if it was shrinking!!

Anybody who would like the pattern please email me sarahloumartin@talktalk.net
and I will send you a copy. The only thing I changed was the number of stitches.

The biggest problem I had with it was keeping CoCo away from my wool.
This what she does to wool.
Join in the fun at Julias and have a snoop around the desks.

Not a lot going on, on my desk this week. I have been asked by a friend to help her with some cards for her friends birthdays.  Need to be girly cards.

And this is what I've been doing not really happy with it yet. Think it might look better on glossy card, and play around with the colours a bit more.

The little frames have been there for a while waiting to be finished off.
Roy the green caterpillar.
The book needs the words adding and the antique glasses i found at a recent trip out to an antique sale. I'll tell you the story behind this when I've got it finished.

If you would like to join in pop over to Julia's and take a look around over peoples desks.

Woyww.
Quite a bit on my desk this morning,
Jewellery waiting to be listed on Folksy.
The beginnings of a journal that I've been asked to make, pages are ready to be sewn together. The cover has only been cut out and is awaiting a make over.
This is CoCo my assistant, shadow and partner in crime.

The felt bowl at the back of my desk I can't get the photo of it to upload, and I'm fed up of messing with it now. I will try again later to put the photos on this is my first piece of felting and I'm really pleased with it.

If you would like to join in the fun pop over to julia's

I'd like to thank you all for giving me such a warm welcome last week, and the lovely comments you left.

Queen of Hearts Bracelet.

The Queen of Hearts is a character from the book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll in 1865.

The Queen is believed by some to be a caricature of Queen Victoria.

This book has been a favourite of mine since childhood, I still have that copy of it very worn. I use to spend hours drawing the flowers with faces out of the book.

I thought that I would join in with the fun everyone is having, I've looked lots of times before but never joined in myself. Not sure why, still pondering that question....I'll let you know if I ever find the answer.lol
I've become kind of bored with making cards, having made them for the last 20ish years for various classes and courses and samples. Been fumbling around in the dark trying to find out what I want to do next. I do still make cards and get ask to do so all the time, but making things for myself is quite a different thing.

Making this canvas was fun playing with different paints, stencils and inks, its still a work in progress and there are bits I don't like. It needs something not sure what so it will sit on my desk till it speaks to me..... I lot of my projects do this.

To join in the fun pop over to julia's andtake a look around.
Sorry pictures are a bit crap, playing with new camera hopefully I'll get better.
